About me

Hi, I'm Matt and I'm a writer.

A simple statement, but the truest one I can tell you. Beyond what I do, writing is what I am. As a kid what I really wanted to do was dig up dinosaurs and invent aeroplanes, sadly the two careers are somewhat mutually exclusive and I was lucky enough to find writing. Now it's as vital as breathing.

I'll write about anything, everything, and occasionally nothing. Sadly literary scribblings don't put food on the table yet, so I split my time between my desk and the big W that is Waterstones.

I have two writing degrees: A BA Hons degree in Creative Writing and a Research Masters in Creative and Professional Writing from London's Roehampton University. To date I have published several book reviews, created publicity material for charities, and proof read documents for the government.

I am currently working on rewriting my research thesis with an aim to publication. Alongside this I indulge any creative whim that takes me. I'm research mad and spend a lot of time reading everything I can get my hands on. I also draw, write academic (ish) essays, learn languages, carve knickknacks, and even bake.

This blog is the manifestation of my musings. Part pontification, part salve to my writer's guilt. I hope you enjoy it.
