Illustrations

This page will show my illustrations as and when I complete them. I don't draw as often, and the illustrations tend to take some time, so this page will not be updated with content as often.

*It goes without saying that these images are my works, and the result of many hours at my desk. I include them here as part of my exploration of the arts. Please do not pass them off as your own. If you wish to copy or use them, ask permission first.*

Illustrations from my reworking of my research dissertation

I have changed the settings I use to digitize these illustrations, and will include the newer scans after the original. I am yet to decide which I prefer for the finished work. The original process captures more texture in the pencil marks, but is prone to white banding from reflections during the scanning process. The new approach limits the banding and captures something more felicitous, but loses texture.

The Bridge of Sighs in Oxford. Pencil and paper. The first of my new images.

Fellow's Garden at Merton College Oxford. Pencil and paper. The second new image. I'm not certain if this image will make it into the finished document, as I'm not as happy with it. It looks too much like a photograph.

The Radcliffe Camera in Oxford. Pencil and paper.

A sketch of detailing on a Corinthian column from the Radcliffe Camera. Pencil and paper.

A sketch of detailing on the Bridge of Sighs. Pencil and paper.

A sketch of a Spotted Flycatcher in the grounds of Fellow's Garden, Merton College, Oxford. Pencil and paper. This is the last of the images that I had planned for the re-worked portion of my dissertation. I'm still thinking over the uses of Mayan icons and pictograms.
